Runes are magical items in SpellFall.
Runes have special powers to help the player during battles.
Runes have three tiers, the initial one (level one) when the rune is purchased or obtained, and two others (level two and level three) by leveling the rune through battle and earning rune points.
Runes can be equipped to weapons and armor while in the Inventory if the player has open sockets. Likewise, the player can unequip runes while in the Inventory.
Runes may be available from purchase with gold in the Store when available. Sometime runes may appear in Mystery Boxes.
Some runes are able to be purchased through the Buying Stuff Menu.
There are two types of runes; active runes and passive runes.
Active runes when equipped can be charged by the specific elemental tile the rune requires to charge. When fully charged the icon located at the bottom-right of the screen will glow and the player can use the ability.
The player can equip more than one active rune at a time, but only one can be charged at a time. Active runes can be cycled during the battle on the bottom-left of the screen.
Passive runes have powers which can increase the chance for special bonuses. Depending on the passive rune the ability may increase the chance to gain an extra move or critical hit. Other passive runes may boost the hero's stats.
